For a private yacht day in Pattaya, start with how your group wants to spend its time: outdoors enjoying the sea, relaxing in an air-conditioned lounge, or moving between a party deck and water activities. Those priorities are more useful than simply choosing the longest yacht.
There is also an important distinction: catamaran describes a boat with two hulls, while motor describes propulsion. A motor catamaran belongs to both categories. For booking, it is clearer to compare sailing catamarans, motor or power catamarans, and the single-hull motor yachts commonly shown in charter listings.

A sailing catamaran suits outdoor time, not a promise of sailing all day
Consider a sailing catamaran when your group values an open deck, sea views and the feel of a yacht with a mast. Check where everyone will sit out of the sun and how easily guests can reach the bathroom or boarding ladder. A large-looking bow is not the same as a shaded dining area.
A sailing charter does not guarantee that the engines stay off or that the sails will be raised. Wind, the route, schedule and the captain's operating decision matter. If sailing itself is the main reason for booking, say so before confirming the boat.
A motor catamaran can be compact or built around group activities
Motor catamarans should not be treated as one standard product. A compact boat can be enough for a small group wanting a private outing, while a larger boat may offer a lounge, an upper deck and more room around water equipment. Compare the usable areas rather than assuming that two hulls automatically mean more comfort.
When some guests want to swim and others prefer to sit indoors, check both spaces. Ask where the slide or floating pool is set up, whether it affects access to the water, and whether there is a shaded place for non-swimmers to watch. Equipment use remains subject to the crew's safety decision and sea conditions.
A motor yacht makes sense when indoor comfort is a real priority
For a celebration, a mixed-age group or guests who want regular breaks from the heat, compare motor yachts with an air-conditioned lounge and separate outdoor seating. The useful question is not just whether the yacht has air conditioning, but how many people can sit comfortably in the area where it operates.
A longer motor yacht may have several levels, narrow side passages or stairs between the lounge and deck. Ask about those movements if a guest has limited mobility. A bedroom listed in the specifications is not automatically a room available for use on a day charter.

- Swimming and party groups: compare the activity area and seating at the same time. A DJ, catering or decorations are not automatically included because the photos show an event.

Compare the same trip, not just the starting price
Ask for quotes for the same date, headcount, duration and route. Yacht size, facilities, weekday or weekend, extra guests, fuel and optional services can change the total. A starting price for one boat is not directly comparable with a different boat's longer or more inclusive program.
Confirm marina fees, transfers, meals, alcohol and paid activities such as jet skis or banana boats separately. Do not assume that a slide in a photo, a cabin count or a BBQ grill means unrestricted use, an overnight stay or a meal included in the quote.
