A rain icon on your chosen travel date can make booking a yacht feel uncertain. Start with three separate questions: can the yacht operate safely, can your preferred route and activities go ahead, and what happens financially if plans change?

First, identify which situation you are in
- Before booking: explain your priorities and any alternative travel dates instead of asking for a guarantee of sunshine. Obtain the yacht's cancellation terms before paying.
- Already booked, with no operating update yet: ask when to check again. Do not cancel independently or skip the meeting point just because an app shows rain.
- The operator has announced a change or cancellation: confirm the new departure time or route, alternatives, cost treatment and any deadline for your response in writing.
Marine conditions matter, not just the amount of rain
A weather-app icon is not a sailing clearance. The captain and operator must assess wind, waves, lightning, visibility, the waters on the route and port or authority restrictions. Light-looking rain does not prove that sea conditions are suitable. A roof does not make a yacht safe in rough weather.
The Thai Meteorological Department shipping forecast includes wind, wave and thunderstorm information. Check its issue time and the waters covered. Rather than deciding from a single forecast number, obtain the latest official information and the operator's assessment. A sailing decision does not guarantee your original itinerary
Even when a charter can operate safely, the island, anchoring point or time available for water activities may change. If Koh Khram or Koh Larn is important to you, ask before booking what happens if a different route is proposed. Booking extra hours cannot remove a weather restriction.
A trip around Monkey Island does not automatically mean suitable snorkeling conditions. Equipment may be available while visibility or sea conditions limit its use. Tell your contact if sunset photographs or outdoor activities are the main reason for your trip. A yacht may sail while clouds hide the sunset. Also ask how route changes, reduced activities or an early return affect the booked time and charges.
Sheltered spaces help with comfort, not sailing permission
Look at usable sheltered seating for your group, not just the yacht's length. An enclosed saloon is different from an open-sided roofed deck. Ask about wind-driven rain, how many people can sit comfortably together, air conditioning and which cabins are available to day-charter guests.
For families with children or older relatives, a place to rest without crossing a wet deck may matter more than another outdoor feature. Maximum passenger capacity is not the number of indoor seats. Separate four questions about cancellation and changes
YachtSiam's published terms explain that weather, marine safety and operator circumstances can change routes or timing. They do not promise one refund percentage or free-change policy for every yacht. The points below are questions to clarify, not a new refund offer.
- You choose to cancel after seeing a forecast: what conditions apply at that point, and what happens to separately confirmed services?
- The operator cannot run the charter safely: which alternatives, date changes or refund arrangements are available, and under what conditions?
- The charter runs with a different route or duration: how is agreement obtained, and what happens to unused time or activities?
- Transfers, food, decoration or other extras have been booked: do they follow the yacht's terms, or have separate charges and exclusions?
Keep the answer with your quotation and booking confirmation. If a refund is approved, confirm the amount covered, method and expected processing time. Do not apply another company's advertised policy to your own booking.

What to check the day before and on departure day
- The day before: send the date, yacht name and preferred route to your contact. Ask for the current operating update and the next check-in time. Mention any alternative dates you can use.
- Before leaving your hotel: reconfirm the meeting point, check-in time, transfer changes and reachable contact. If the instructions are unclear, get clarification first.
- At the yacht: follow the captain's and crew's movement and activity instructions. Do not insist on sailing or a specific destination based on your own reading of a forecast.
If sunset photographs are essential, discuss that expectation separately from the sailing decision. A night photograph or onboard lighting does not mean that a night charter is included in your booking.
Pack for staying dry without overpacking
A dry change of clothes, a bag for wet items, phone protection and a light extra layer are practical. Do not rely on an umbrella as your solution on deck; follow the crew's instructions on movement and storage. Check towels against the actual yacht's inclusions.

Send your date and the activity that matters most
A useful enquiry might read: '12 October, eight adults and two children, four hours in the afternoon, water activities around Monkey Island preferred; we could move to 13 October.' Then ask: 'When can the operating plan be confirmed, and which change or cancellation terms apply to our booking?' This is an enquiry example, not an available charter offer.
